Today on the blog, I'm taking you straight into the action of one of our training sessions. In the photos, you can see Eliška – one of my most promising trainees and an incredibly talented competitive player. Anyone who follows her development knows she works incredibly hard. And that's exactly what it takes to get to the next level.

Machine Pace and High-Speed Game

For this training unit, we called in a feeding machine to help. This handy piece of equipment is absolutely ideal for drilling specific game situations because it can shoot one shuttlecock after another at an immense pace and with perfect accuracy. It doesn't give the player a second to breathe and forces maximum concentration.

Main Goal: Drives and Uncompromising Attack

This time we focused on a very specific and absolutely crucial part of the modern badminton game – drives and attacking from drives.

We set up the feeding machine to simulate a fast, flat game. What exactly did we focus on during the drill?

  • Lightning Reflexes and Racket Work: In drive shootouts, fractions of a second decide. Eliška had to react instantly and keep her racket ready in front of her body at all times.

  • Low Center of Gravity: As you can see in the photos, Eliška maintains an exemplarily low stance. A stable and wide leg position is the foundation for putting maximum power into a flat shot.

  • Active Transition to Attack: It wasn't just about returning the shuttlecock. The main task was to find the right moment in a fast rally, take the initiative, and transition straight from a drive into the offensive.

The Hours Put In Count

The flood of yellow shuttlecocks on the floor is the best proof of how intense this training was. Drives at this pace burn the thighs and demand 100% focus. But Eliška handled this challenge brilliantly, and her progress in the speed and power of her shots is clearly visible.

I am sure that with this work ethic, she has a very promising future ahead of her. Keep your fingers crossed for her in upcoming tournaments!
